What makes a person good? Are people really to blame for being the way they are? These questions form the basis of an argument of mine that states that people aren't to blame for being the way they are.

It is common knowledge that genetics and personal experience are the two main factors that make us who we are,. given this information it can be stated that the governing factors are our gene pool and the experiences we go through. How we turn out depends on the outside forces of our upbringing and culture in which we live.

In opposition to this, one might argue that along the way to our becoming who we are,. we face certian choices, and it is when we make the choice to do something bad, that our fate is decided. So now the question becomes, are we in control of the choices we make or are they decided by outside factors. For instance one might say that it is in our upbringing that we did not properly learn the difference between right and wrong, or otherwise had a negative influence that made us prone to making bad choices.

If this is all found to be true, then truly we cannot blame anyone for being a bad person,. However,. an important question remains to pose upon the  argument; if we think we are bad, can we make a conscious effort to change ourselves?  This raises an interesting point to which there are two anwers, and both lie squarely in the realm of conjecture. If we answer yes, we can change ourselves or consciously choose to make good choices then people are to blame for being bad. However if the answer is that we cannot change ourselves then the blame lies elsewhere,. such as the person's parents…

So,. before you label someone as being "bad", just remember that the question of if a person is at fault for their behavior, relies on the key factors of if the person is aware of their wrong doing, and if that person has the capacity to change or control their behaviour,…
